Lynn M. Meyer

Lynn M. Meyer, 58, of Cedar Rapids and formerly Sumner, died Friday, February 17, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church-Spring Fountain of rural Sumner with Rev. George Volkert officiating.  Interment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery of Sumner Township. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be given to the family for later designation.

Lynn Marie, daughter of Virgil H. and Norma Jean Abbas Meyer, was born August 15, 1958, at Sumner, Iowa. She was baptized at home by Rev. Nagler on August 25, 1958, and confirmed at St. John Lutheran-Spring Fountain Church by Rev. Mues on May 21, 1972. Lynn received her education in the Sumner Schools, graduating from Sumner High School in 1976. She furthered her education at Hamilton Business College in Mason City. She worked in management with Hardee’s Restaurants in Waverly, Iowa Falls, and Ankeny, prior to working for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Des Moines. For the past fourteen years, she has worked for Benefit Solutions in Cedar Rapids. Lynn has been a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church-Spring Fountain. She enjoyed reading and cross-stitch, but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Virgil and Norma Meyer of Sumner, she is survived by two sisters, Lorri (Keith) Huck and Brenda (Randy) Foster, both of Waverly; one brother, Gene (Susie) Meyer of Sumner; nieces and nephews, Andrew Huck, Beth (Dan) Hubbard, Thomas (Stacy) Huck, Abby Foster, Ashley (Izaak) Miller, Allison and Anna Foster, and Tyler, Trevor, Laura, Austin, and Isabelle Meyer; and two great nephews, Warner and Emmett Huck, and great niece, Emrie Hubbard.

Sorry for your loss and send Prayers and sympathy to you all. In case you don't remember this name we were in Sumner many years till my Folks Marion & Gerry moved us to Orlando,Fl. We lived on two farms in country and in town for a short time. Have a lot of memories and knew you were in Cedar Rapids because from talking to ones in Sumner. I have some of my relatives also in Cedar Rapids. I think there is some of Gamm family and Hill family there.

Lynn, was the BEST of the BEST. A Wonderful person that always put others interest in front of her own. She Lived and Enjoyed her extended family so much.
